It's December and that means the holidays are just around the corner. These days are all about fun, being together with family and gifts. But it is certainly also about food, a lot of food in fact. A Christmas breakfast, brunch, Christmas dinner, snacks, drinks and the list goes on. We all know it. The temptation to eat a lot during these days is therefore enormous. Afterwards you often feel guilty because you ate too much and have to lose all the kilos. Prevention is better than cure and that is why we advise you to get through the holidays in a healthy way. Below you can read how best to do this.
1 - Healthy Christmas recipes
During the holidays there is always plenty of delicious food to eat and a healthy lifestyle is not often considered. Of course, you don't always have a say in what is put on the table because you eat outside the home. But good news, a delicious Christmas dinner does not always have to be a calorie bomb. There are plenty of tasty and healthy variations on the Christmas classics. You don't have to be a star chef to surprise family and/or friends with a healthy Christmas dinner. For example, think of couscous with vegetables and a piece of stew, stuffed pumpkin, fish, a greeting quiche and salads. Leave the rolls with herb butter or other spreads. Not only are the sandwiches full of pointless carbohydrates, if you eat too many of them you won't feel like eating the rest of the courses. Are you making the Christmas dessert? Then choose pure ingredients full of nutritional value. For example, think of raw brownies, baked pear from the oven with nuts or a fruit bowl.
2 - Take other meals into account
If you know that you are going to eat a large meal in the evening, you can take this into account during the day. Make sure you eat light meals. For example, have breakfast with cottage cheese and opt for a healthy salad for lunch. Try to give up the snacks. Be careful not to eat too little, because then your stomach will shrink. This means you can fit less and you'll fill up faster. So eat during the day, but not too much. Light and digestible dishes are best. We also recommend drinking enough water during the day.
3 - Keep moving
You know that during the holidays you always eat a little more than on a normal day. You eat and drink more, but you exercise less. Fortunately, you are not alone. To compensate for this, you can exercise more at these times. This is extra important if you want to maintain your weight. During the holidays you can regularly get some fresh air. And you probably want to have a drink anyway, so the choice to take the bike is quickly made.
4 - Fresh snacks
You are going to eat with your parents, brother, grandmother or another family member. Don't let one person prepare everything, but make sure everyone makes a course. If you divide the tasks, everyone will be a lot more relaxed at Christmas dinner. Teamwork, that's what it's all about. You can warm up the food on the spot or add a finishing touch for a radiant festive meal. Do you have snacks and drinks that need to be kept cool? Take them with you in a cooler bag. This way they stay nice and fresh and it is of course also easy to take all the goodies with you this way. You can possibly put cooling elements in it. Do you want to impress and arrive with an original cool bag? Then have cool bags printed . Do you have several bags or other items with you that you want to print ? That is also possible.
