The title of this great book is music to our ears: ' The great holiday activity book for exhausted parents '. Because yes, it really is a feast of recognition, this fine document written by Nynke de Jong, Hanneke Hendrix, Alex van der Hulst and Anne Janssens . Incidentally, from the same 'stable' (Nijgh & Van Ditmar) as our own Happlify your life book . It's spot-on and unmissable reading for on vacation. And gloating softens all wounds, even if you're standing in line at Schiphol...

Wi-Fi despair

Family holidays are fantastic and exhausting. You escape the rut of your own existence, but on holiday you get another rut in return. Do you suddenly find yourself chasing a buggy through a deserted French village at 5 am because your toddler is having teething problems, are you desperately looking for a WiFi signal or are you half the time at the beach trying to get kids to play? smear, find shovels and scan the tideline to make sure no child is drowning. Only when you finally have everyone asleep in the evening and you are sitting in front of your caravan with a camping mug full of red wine and a wheel of brie, can you really relax.

"In a narrow street opposite a farm stood a rotten house: our holiday home for two weeks."

What relaxation?

For all those brief moments of total relaxation, Nynke de Jong, Hanneke Hendrix, Alex van der Hulst and Anne Janssens, creators of the successful podcast Ik Ken Someone Die, wrote a holiday activity book for exhausted parents. With anecdotes, tips, recipes, puzzles and coloring pages that you can scratch through with clenched fists. A book that makes you laugh at other people's holiday woes, tells you which easy camping meal to make and teaches you how to keep it cozy in the backseat. With puzzles so that you will never forget to replenish your first aid kit and an explanation of how to book the perfect campsite or cottage. But above all, this book teaches you that you are not alone and that all those other families on vacation have to deal with exactly the same troubles.

"Ten seconds after I left they started: Daddy, what are you going to do in the toilet?"

Mag een uitgebluste oom ook meedoen, het is bijna topsport, een neefje en een nichtje te logeren. Nee hoor, was top.
