Discover Sofia's Brocante : our Happlify Crew webshop of the month October! We have been fans of this gem in the world of vintage and brocante for years. As SYSO we have had the honor of shaping Sofia's dream - from branding to webshop and coaching. The result? An online treasure chest full of nostalgic treasures and their stories. Sofia's eye for detail and passion for the past is infectious. Every piece in her collection has character, history and often a fun quirky twist. We asked Sofia a few questions, will you read along?

Who are you and what do you do?

I am Sofia from the webshop Sofia's Brocante. I have been the proud owner of the webshop Sofia's Brocante for 1 year now, and I am also a part-time stewardess by profession.

How did you come up with the idea to start your store and/or webshop?

During the Corona period I started to revive my old passion for vintage and brocante by selling the items I found in France on Instagram. It became so successful that manually processing the orders became too much for me and was incredibly time-consuming.

Then I thought that a webshop could automate the administrative side of my passion, which would save me a lot of time and energy. It would also be much easier and more fun for customers to be able to shop brocante items in a fun and clear way much more efficiently. These were reasons for me to choose a webshop. By googling I came across Sell your stuff online. The website of Sell your stuff online and the look and feel immediately appealed to me and  This is how the collaboration with Mariko came about, see this case study , and I am now the owner of the webshop Sofia's Brocante.

What is your current favorite product and why?

I like a lot of products, but especially the things that give an instant trip down memory lane. For example: I have a soft spot for retro weather houses.

It takes me right back to my youth when I found it fascinating as a child how that little man and that little woman in that weather house went forward or backward. Beautiful memories.

That's how I have it with the well-known blue cookie tin that was once issued by AH in the 60s/70s and that was always on the table at my grandfather's. When I have the tin in stock, it is usually sold out immediately, because I am apparently not the only one who has sweet memories of this specific cookie tin. Or the lemonade glasses with fruit on them from which we drank bright green Raak soda as a child . I can name a whole list of items that bring back happy memories and are therefore favorites.

Furthermore, antique and curios items are favorites, because they appeal to the imagination. I have also always had a soft spot for hats and have worn them a lot. Every now and then I come across very old ones.

There is one in the webshop now that dates from 1890 and is in a leather hat box, with a weathered sticker with "Eindhoven" on it. My imagination runs wild. Who did the hat belong to? What journeys has this hat made? Who once made this hat by hand? There are beautiful stories attached to these kinds of items, and they are often very decorative in your interior.

What do you like most about running your webshop?

Making customers happy and strangely enough wrapping the orders. It gives me the feeling of wrapping presents and that makes me very happy.

How do you keep your webshop/collection interesting for your customers?

First I try to find as many unique finds as possible for the webshop. A very nice challenge that takes me to very nice and special places. In addition, by supplementing the collection weekly with new found objects. Writing blogs is also part of that, so that people can not only shop, but also read blogs.
