When the days are short, the sky turns gray and the weather turns bleak, you can be sure that your resistance will drop. We have been making this super drink, also called golden milk, for years when a cold threatens to appear in the Naber household. It is packed with ingredients with very healthy properties and is also not dirty at all (= important).

If you have been following Happlify for a while, you know that this recipe was one of the first blog posts in October 2019. Because we are now officially in a flu epidemic, I would like to share it with you again 🤧

What is Golden milk and why is it good for you?

Golden milk is much more than a trendy drink. In fact it is an age-old Ayurvedic drink, also called Tumeric juice . It is an enrichment for your health, thanks to the powerful main ingredient, turmeric. Whether you are looking for natural immune support, anti-inflammatory solutions or just a healthy and tasty drink, golden milk is definitely worth a try.

What does Golden milk taste like? The taste of golden milk is a bit comparable to pumpkin spice latte.

Golden milk ingredients

Quantity: 1 liter
Preparation time: 10 min

  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • 3 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 whole lemon (juiced)
  • 1 liter of water

Preparation method

  1. Bring the water to a boil.
  2. Put all the ingredients in the water.
  3. Let it all simmer for 5 minutes (off the boil).
  4. Pour the boost into a large enough jug or thermos.
Drink the jug throughout the day. This way your body gets a big healthy kick from this wonderful magic Boost. If you want a good night's sleep, drink it in the evening.

TIP You can replace the water with almond or coconut milk. This makes a drink called Golden Milk, among other things. Also delicious!

TIP If you mix in a generous pinch of black pepper or chili pepper, you will help the body to absorb the boost even better.

Turmeric

The main ingredient of Golden milk is turmeric. This is a spice that you may also know as turmeric and is considered by many to be one of the most medicinal medicines in the world. In particular, it has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which can provide long-term protection against many diseases. See, for example , this study .

Ginger

Ginger is also a super healthy spice that is known for its medicinal properties and has also been used as a medicine by many Asian cultures for centuries. It again combats inflammation, which only further strengthens the effect of the turmeric. And do you ever feel really nauseous? Then definitely try a glass of ginger tea, which seems to work well against this.

Lemon

Lemon is not only nice and fresh, it is also full of vitamin C , which strengthens the resistance. It also has a strong detoxifying effect and kills various types of disease-causing bacteria.

And cinnamon and honey? Those are great seasonings ;-)
