Creativity sometimes seems like something magical that just falls out of the sky and that you can't look for. But nothing could be further from the truth, it is precisely by looking around you and paying attention to all the little things around you that you often find the most inspiration.

The world is full of little moments and details that can inspire you, as long as you know where to look. Here are a few simple ways to find creative inspiration in the little things around you.

1. Get outside and breathe in the world

There’s nothing like taking a walk to get inspired, especially if you open your eyes to the little things: the shape of leaves, the way light shines through trees, or the texture of an old wall. Even a crooked lamppost can make you think about imperfection and character!

2. Listen carefully to everyday sounds

The city waking up to a symphony of clicking heels on the sidewalk, birdsong, or the buzz of a coffee shop. Sounds can trigger emotions and memories. Maybe it inspires you to write, draw, or create a new playlist to use during your workday.

3. Find beauty in routines

Even the most mundane actions can provide new insights. The way you make your coffee every morning, the route you take to work, or the pattern of raindrops on your window. These small, everyday routines can give you unexpected ideas when you look at them with fresh eyes.

4. Play with words and phrases you come across

Whether it’s a strange advertising slogan, a funny saying from a friend, or something you pick up during a conversation on the train, words can send you down a completely different path. Write them down in a notebook and who knows, they might form the basis for a new creation.

5. Photograph the ordinary

Grab your camera or phone and start capturing the world around you. Photograph random things like your breakfast, a stack of books, or your feet in the mud. Sometimes capturing the ordinary can make you see the beauty of the moment, which can lead to other creative ideas.

6. Observe people around you

Take a good look at the people around you. Their body language, clothing choices, or the way they talk to each other. Sometimes a look or a movement can touch you and inspire you to write a story, draw a picture, or take a whole new creative direction.

7. Let your mind wander

Sometimes you don’t have to actively search. Let your thoughts wander, whether it’s on the train, in the shower or while staring into space. Often the best ideas come when your mind isn’t actively searching for inspiration.

Inspiration is often hidden in the smallest things around you. By paying attention to the world as it is, and being amazed by the everyday, you can find new creative ideas without having to look far. So, keep your eyes open, ears pricked up and let yourself be surprised!
